Hi everyone! For a change, I decided to write a post about a trip I took during the last few days.
When I started this blog, I wanted it to be a place where I could write about my travels and the places I ended up visiting. I didn’t want to create a travel blog since there are a lot of those already, but rather a blog where I could write my personal experiences and what I liked about the places I visited.
I love to travel, I believe that every single journey we take, even the short ones, always ends up changing us a little. I like to travel alone but I also like to travel with other people. Some of the most important friendships of my lives started while I was traveling.
Every time I see a place I’ve never seen before I get this incredible feeling that it’s hard to put into words. It’s this childlike love for discovery and exploring. You always end up learning something new and you always end up richer as a person.
The place I visited this time wasn’t very far from where I live, it took only a few hours drive to get there and somehow I’ve never visited those places before even if they were so close. It was a remarkable experience I have to say.
The landscapes were breathtaking, I’ve never seen such beautiful places. I am more of a sea lover, I’ve never really liked the mountains, but this trip changed my mind. The first thing we visited was the Pietralba’s Sanctuary, a beautiful shrine surrounded by nature. It’s one of the most famous shrines in Alto Adige.
Next, we paid a visit to the Carezza Lake, or Karersee in German, a beautiful alpine lake at the feet of the Latemar Mountain, surrounded by tall trees. The crystal clear waters reflect the mountain perfectly. There are many local tales about this beautiful lake and about the stunning and suggestive colors of its waters. Its name in the Ladin Language (the local dialect) can be translated to “The Rainbow Lake”.
After that, we stop in Canazei, a beautiful village used as a base for many excursions and rock climbs. It’s one of those typical mountain villages, where the buildings are made mostly of wood, there’s a lot of green and all the balconies have flowers. It was lovely. We stop for a night in one of the many hotels there. Here even the small ones are equipped with a Spa.
From here the next day we drove to a nearby location called Malga Ciapela. From there we walk down a natural canyon that led to the small town of Sottoguda. It’s a 2 km walk downhill that can be done in less than an hour. There were also people that were doing it the other way around, but it looked pretty hard to me.
Then after this, we proceeded to the most amazing part of our journey. We went on top of the Marmolada Mountain at 2.600 meters. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and probably the most stunning view I’d ever seen. There is just something about the beauty of pure and uncontaminated nature that helps with putting things in perspective and kind of gives you a little bit of balance in your life. At least this is what it did to me.
Lastly, on the way back home, we stopped to visit the beautiful town of Trento. We went the main square and visited the Duomo, then we had a quick tour of the city with a local guide. It was an amazing trip, I loved every minute of it. If you want to see more pictures, just check my instagram, I’ll be posting some of the pictures I took in the next days.
